SUITABLE SIZE RANGE
The Thor3D scanner is designed especially for large objects in the 1–10 meter range, though it can scan small objects too. Its biggest strength is that it’s wireless and handheld. You can take the 3D scanner anywhere, and it’s very light to hold. Walk around the object and capture its 3D data in just a few minutes. It works like a video camera or a phone; capturing 3D data has never been simpler. The touchscreen on the unit shows what it captures, at up to 10 frames per second.

What objects can a handheld 3D scanner capture?
Handheld 3D scanners can capture a wide range of objects: mechanical parts, statues, reliefs, furniture, cars, motorcycles and even people. What works in practice depends on the scan area, the scanner’s resolution and the object’s surface.
How is color 3D scanning different from regular 3D scanning?
Color scanning also captures surface color with a camera and saves it as a texture image with the model, usually exported as OBJ. Regular scanning captures geometry only, which suits reverse engineering, inspection and single-color 3D printing.
When do you need markers for handheld 3D scanning?
Markers are usually needed for large objects, flat surfaces or parts with few geometric features, or when high accuracy is required. For objects with lots of detail, some scanners can track by geometry or texture without markers.
What are the advantages of a wireless handheld 3D scanner?
