METAL 3D PRINTER FEATURES

Laser metal melting technology (Selective Laser Melting Technology): A high-intensity laser melts each layer of fine metal powder, fusing it into complex parts without cutting tools or CNC machines. The metal density inside the printed part reaches ~100%, so the part has the needed rigidity, durability and good mechanical properties.

Near-total material use (Material utilization rate is high, making cost lower): After printing, part of the metal powder is reused. Using ~95% of the material saves you much more material, and money, than traditional machining.

How is SLM different from SLS?

SLM fully melts metal powder with a laser to create dense parts, while SLS usually sinters plastic powder such as nylon without fully melting it. That is why SLM is used for load-bearing metal parts, and SLS is common for engineering plastic parts.

Do SLM printed parts need post-processing?

Yes. Parts usually need heat treatment to relieve residual stress, cutting from the build plate, support removal and finish machining of mating surfaces. Depending on requirements, the surface can also be sandblasted or polished.

Can leftover metal powder be reused?

Unmelted powder can be sieved and reused in later prints at a suitable mixing ratio. Moisture and powder quality must be controlled, since powder reused many times can affect the part’s mechanical properties.

What safety precautions apply when running a metal 3D printer?

Fine metal powder carries a fire and explosion risk and is harmful if inhaled, so it must be handled in a controlled environment with inert shielding gas and suitable protective equipment. The machine area also needs a stable power supply and room temperature as recommended by the manufacturer.
