Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to scan people with a handheld 3D scanner?
Scanners that use white LED light are generally considered safe for scanning people, since no laser shines into the eyes. The person only needs to stay still during the scan, which usually takes one to a few minutes depending on size and level of detail.
Why are handheld scanners suited to large objects?
Handheld scanners have a wide scan area per frame and can move freely around the object, so they capture data quickly on large surfaces such as cars, statues and industrial parts. Desktop scanners are limited by the turntable size and the camera’s field of view.
How do accuracy and resolution affect handheld scanning results?
Accuracy decides how close the measured dimensions are to reality, while resolution decides how much surface detail you get. Scanners for large objects usually have lower resolution than those for small objects, so choose a device or lens that matches the object size.
What is body scan data used for?
Body scan data is often used to 3D print portrait statues, design clothing and custom protective gear, create characters for games and films, or as models for composite and polyresin statues. The data needs mesh processing and editing before printing or machining.
Who can I contact to 3D scan a large object or a person?
Contact CT3D via Hotline/Zalo 0975 008 728 or email contact@ct3dgroup.com. Describe the object size, location and intended use, and we will suggest a suitable scanning plan.
