3D printing is part of rapid prototyping technology. 3D printing services have grown strongly as product research and development has sped up. Users expect more from products, so R & D has to work at higher capacity and use advanced technology to keep up. That has driven the growth of 3D printing services, because not every company can afford to invest in 3D printers, even though there are many cheap imported models. We started our 3D printing service in 2009 and expanded it strongly with more modern equipment from 2015. Today we run one of the most professional 3D printing service networks in Ho Chi Minh City and across Vietnam, meeting every customer need for 3D printing.

Which 3D printing technology fits each need?
Today’s 3D printing services use more than one type of machine. Each technology has its own strengths in surface finish, strength, size and materials. Picking the right one from the start gets the part right without reprinting it several times.
| Technology | Typical materials | Strengths | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| FDM | PLA, ABS, PETG, TPU | Low cost, large build size, wide material choice | Rough prototypes, jigs, simple functional parts |
| SLA / resin | Standard resin, engineering resin | Smooth surface, sharp detail | Display models, casting patterns, dental, jewelry |
| MJF / SLS | PA12 (nylon) | Strong, no supports needed, good for batches | Functional parts, device housings, small batches |
| Metal printing | Stainless steel, aluminum, titanium… | Complex metal parts for real use | Mechanical, medical, aerospace |
Quick comparison of three common FDM plastics
- PLA: easy to print, little warping, nice surface; but brittle with poor heat resistance. Good for display pieces and models.
- ABS: tougher, with better impact and heat resistance than PLA, and can be vapor smoothed; needs an enclosed chamber to limit warping.
- TPU: flexible, rubber-like plastic for gaskets, pads, protective cases and grips.
Preparing files and requirements when ordering
Common print files are STL or STEP. The model needs to be watertight, free of mesh errors and have enough wall thickness for the chosen technology. When ordering, state clearly how the part will be used (display, assembly, load-bearing, heat-resistant), the quantity, color and finishing needs such as sanding, painting or threaded inserts. The clearer the information, the easier it is for the print shop to recommend the technology and the best part orientation for strength. For parts that fit together, note the tolerance you want so the technician can compensate dimensions for each technology.
You can send your file for advice and a quote on CT3D’s 3D printing service page, or contact Hotline/Zalo 0975 008 728 to have your file checked before printing.
Frequently asked questions
Should I choose ABS or PLA for 3D printing?
Choose PLA for display pieces and good-looking models at low cost where heat resistance doesn’t matter. Choose ABS if the part needs to be tougher, handle impacts and heat better, or be assembled and screwed together many times.
Can 3D printed parts be painted and finished?
Yes. FDM parts are usually sanded, filled, primed and painted to hide layer lines. Resin parts have a smoother surface, so they need only light finishing. ABS can also be vapor smoothed for a glossy finish.
What file format do I need to order 3D printing?
STL is the most common format, and STEP and OBJ are usually accepted too. If you only have a 2D drawing or a physical part, the print shop can help build the 3D file or 3D scan it before printing.
What is TPU 3D printing used for?
TPU is a flexible, elastic plastic often used to print gaskets, shock-absorbing pads, protective cases, straps, non-slip grips and other parts that need to bend without breaking.
Is 3D printing suitable for small production runs?
Yes, especially for batches of a few dozen to a few hundred parts. 3D printing needs no mold, so upfront costs are low. For larger quantities, consider silicone molds or injection molding to lower the cost per part.
