3D PRINTERS FOR RAPID PROTOTYPING:
These machines are widely used for rapid prototyping. FDM 3D printers are used every day in R&D labs and design departments, and to make prototypes and test products.
What you see above is a 3D-printed fixture set, used to check assembly before producing the real product. It shows at a glance how well FDM 3D printing handles prototyping. Printing a fixture set takes only half a day to one working day.
3D PRINTERS FOR TEACHING AND TRAINING:
For our industry to keep up with the global Industry 4.0 trend, training is essential. With that in mind, 3D printers for schools, built specifically for training, have arrived with a great mission.
It would be great if every school had access to 3D printing and, step by step, taught it as an official subject.
3D PRINTERS FOR INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION:
Machines widely used in industry rely on these technologies:- DLP: 3D printing wax patterns for jewelry casting, gold and silver casting.
- SLA: large-format 3D printing for footwear, automotive and mechanical mold making.
- SLM: metal 3D printing for automotive, aerospace and specialized fields such as medicine.
Footwear makers have raised output by 300% and saved a great deal of sampling time thanks to the 3D printing technology we supply. You will be surprised by the images below:

In a single run, an SLA prototyping machine can produce as many samples as a CNC machine would make in many hours of continuous work.

Maximum detail makes mold making easier than ever.

3D printing jigs and fixtures: an overlooked but highly effective use
Jigs and fixtures are tools that locate, clamp or check parts on a production line. Traditionally they are machined from aluminum or steel, which takes a lot of time for each design change. With 3D printing, engineers can design fixtures that hug the product’s profile, print them quickly and keep adjusting until they meet requirements.
- Assembly fixtures: hold parts in the right position for screwing, gluing or welding.
- Inspection gauges: quickly check profiles and hole positions on plastic and sheet metal parts.
- Protective tools: covers and caps that prevent scratches on product surfaces during handling.
- Locating trays: trays that hold components for painting, packing or automatic feeding.
When designing 3D-printed fixtures, pay attention to print orientation because FDM parts are weaker across layers. Insert metal nuts or bushings where screws are fastened often, and choose wear-resistant materials for surfaces in constant contact.
Choosing a 3D printing technology for each production need
| Purpose | Common technology | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Jigs, fixtures, inspection gauges | FDM, MJF/SLS nylon | Strong, tough, reasonable cost |
| Wax patterns, jewelry casting patterns | DLP, SLA with clean-burning resin | Sharp small details, good for lost-wax casting |
| Shoe prototypes, large mold patterns | Large-format SLA | Smooth surface, good master patterns for molds |
| Parts under high heat and loads | Metal printing (SLM) | Mechanical properties close to traditional metals |
For fixtures that need strength, in quantities of tens to hundreds, nylon powder technologies such as MJF are worth considering because they need no supports and give parts uniform mechanical properties. See our PA12 nylon 3D printing service for fixtures and functional parts.
Frequently asked questions
Can 3D-printed fixtures replace metal fixtures?
In many cases with moderate loads, yes. Where loads are heavy, impacts are strong or wear is constant, metal fixtures still last longer, but you can combine a 3D-printed body with metal inserts at the load points.
Can an FDM 3D printer make jewelry casting patterns?
It is not a good fit for small jewelry parts. Jewelry casting patterns need very high resolution and clean-burning material, so DLP or SLA printers with dedicated castable resin are usually used.
Which 3D printer should a school choose for teaching?
A desktop FDM printer is usually the best choice for education. It is easy to run, PLA is safe, running costs are low, and students learn the full process from design to finished part.
Does 3D printing really shorten prototyping time?
Yes, especially in the testing stage. Since no mold is needed, a prototype can be printed and tested in a few hours to a few days, allowing many design revisions before investing in production tooling.
