What is 3D printing? What is a 3D printer? The terms 3D printing and 3D printer have become familiar over the past few years and are now widely used in manufacturing and everyday life. 3D printing is part of rapid prototyping technology. It uses a 3D printer to create a real 3D model (one you can hold in your hand) from 3D data on a computer, based on the principle of additive manufacturing. 3D printing uses materials (the equivalent of ink in 2D printing) such as plastic filament, powder and liquid resin, and now even metal. 3D printing is expected to completely change traditional production cycles within the next 5 years.
What types of 3D printers are there? There are many types of 3D printers:

3D printing produces dentures that are a 99% match
BY TECHNOLOGY:
- FDM 3D printing is the most common today (plastic filament).
- SLA 3D printing (liquid resin).
- SLS 3D printing (powder + binder + color)
- SLM 3D printing (metal powder: titanium, steel, aluminum.)
- And many other 3D printing technologies.
BY ORIGIN:
- Vietnamese 3D printers: self-assembled from Chinese parts (open-frame RepRap printers).
- Imported 3D printers: South Korea, USA, Taiwan …

3D printing makes useful products
BY FUNCTION:
- Single-color 3D printing.
- Multicolor 3D printing (full-color 3D printing).
BY MATERIAL:
- Plastic filament (ABS, PLA, TPU filament).
- Liquid resin.
- Powder materials.
- Metal materials.
THE MOST COMMON 3D PRINTING TECHNOLOGY TODAY:
- The most common 3D printing technology today is FDM, which builds layers from plastic filament (additive manufacturing). With low-cost printers and materials, easy operation and fairly simple maintenance, FDM dominates the 3D printing market, and no other technology can compete with it yet.

Frequently asked questions
What are the benefits of an enclosed 3D printer over an open-frame one?
An enclosed chamber keeps the temperature stable, which reduces warping when printing ABS and engineering plastics. It also keeps out dust and drafts and stops plastic fumes from spreading through the room. Open-frame printers are cheaper but mostly suited to PLA.
Is an auto-leveling print bed really necessary?
It isn’t required, but it helps a lot. The first layer decides how well the print sticks and how good the whole print turns out. Auto-leveling cuts setup time and reduces errors, especially for beginners.
What are flexible 3D printing materials used for?
Flexible plastics such as TPU are used for gaskets, pads, protective covers, shoe soles, non-slip grips and other parts that need to flex. Print them at lower speeds with a suitable extruder so the filament doesn’t jam.
What is the difference between single-color and multicolor 3D printing?
Single-color printing makes one-color parts; for other colors you paint them after printing. Multicolor printing adds color during the print, which suits display and education models, but the equipment and materials usually cost more.
Should I buy a 3D printer or use a 3D printing service?
If you print often with one material, owning a printer gives you control over your schedule. If you need several technologies, large sizes or only print per project, a service is cheaper. Contact CT3D via hotline/Zalo 0975 008 728 for advice.
