The EinScan Pro Plus is a versatile 3D scanner. It has several scan modes and can work as a handheld 3D scanner. It offers high-resolution 3D scanning, color scanning for applications that use multi-color OBJ files, and a fixed scan mode for high accuracy with automatic 3D scanning.

The whole 3D scanning process is shown in the image above. The EinScan Pro Plus 3D scanner is used in fixed scan mode.
This scan is aligned 100% automatically, with none of the manual alignment steps other 3D scanners need.
We rate the sharpness of this scan highly. It can be used right away for 3D printing or CNC programming.

How does fixed scanning with a turntable work?
In fixed scan mode, the structured light scanner sits on a tripod and the object rests on a turntable. The scanner projects light stripes onto the surface, and the cameras record how the stripes deform to calculate each point’s coordinates. After each shot, the turntable rotates a small step and the software automatically aligns the scans using geometry or markers. This lets small and medium objects, like the turtle model in this post, be digitized almost fully automatically. The operator only needs to flip the object to scan the underside.
Compared with handheld scanning, fixed scanning usually gives more consistent accuracy because the scanner does not shake, which suits small, detailed parts. Handheld scanning, on the other hand, is more flexible for large objects or ones that cannot go on a turntable.
Uses for 3D scan data from animal figures, models and crafts
Organic objects such as animal figures, clay models, ceramics and sculptures have freeform surfaces that are hard to measure with a ruler. 3D scan data helps with:
- Copying and scaling up or down: one original can be 3D printed in many sizes while keeping detail in proportion.
- Masters for silicone molds: after surface finishing, the 3D print serves as a master for mold making and batch production in resin or composite.
- CNC machining: the mesh file goes into CAM software to mill wood, foam or plastic.
- Marketing and digital display: color scan data in OBJ format works for websites, 3D catalogs and virtual reality.
- Archiving: the original is preserved digitally, avoiding the risk of damage or loss.
Tips for scanning small, detailed objects
For sharp data, place the object in the center of the turntable, avoid strong direct light and treat shiny or dark areas beforehand. Deep grooves and narrow gaps, such as an animal’s neck and legs, usually need extra scans from several angles. If you do not have the equipment yet or need fast results for a project, you can use our 3D scanning service for objects and get processed files ready for 3D printing or machining.
Frequently asked questions
Can 3D scanning capture an object’s real colors?
Yes, if the scanner has a color camera or texture scan mode. Color data is usually saved as OBJ with a texture image, suitable for digital display, full-color 3D printing or marketing materials.
Can a 3D scan file be printed right away?
It usually needs some work before printing: filling holes, making the mesh watertight, reducing noise and checking wall thickness. After that, the STL file can go into slicing software for 3D printing.
How small should an object be to use fixed scanning instead of handheld?
Objects that fit on the turntable and have many small details usually give better results in fixed scan mode. Objects larger than the scan range or too heavy should be scanned handheld with markers.
Can a 3D scan be scaled up to make a large statue?
Yes. The data is scaled up and split into several parts for 3D printing or CNC cutting, then assembled and surface finished. When scaling up a lot, some details may need to be reworked on the digital model to stay sharp.
How do I get advice on 3D scanning a craft piece or model?
Contact Hotline/Zalo 0975 008 728 or email contact@ct3dgroup.com with photos and dimensions of the piece. CT3D will advise on the scanning approach and next steps such as 3D printing, mold making or machining.
